The Access group is comprised of the parent company Access AS, and the subsidiaries Access Dørautomatikk AS and Access Vital AS. Through its operations, Access seeks to cover the needs of increased freedom of movement and rational access for people and goods in private homes, business premises and institutions.
Access has a high level of professional expertise and competitive solutions within all of its business areas. Access’ headquarters are located in Hamar with branch offices in Oslo, Trondheim, Bodø, Tromsø and Karasjok, and partner companies representing the other areas of Norway.
Access Dørautomatikk AS has a wide range of products including automatic sliding and hinged doors, revolving doors, security card and controlled access, and remote environmental controls in private homes for assisted living.
Access Vital is a leading Norwegian supplier of technical aids. Access Vital’s product range includes a wide variety of stairlifts and vertical lifts, in addition to ceiling hoists, scooters, and of course our own Active and Breeze Rollators, which are sold world-wide.
When the Access group sold its elevator business in 2001, they wisely invested this money in developing their own innovative technical aid products. Within few years Access developed the cabin for what is now know as the “Shoprider”, the Access Active walker, and finally the Access Breeze walker.
In 2002, while doing market research, Access found that that this was one area of mobility that had stagnated for many years. Access wanted to change this and create something new entirely. For this daunting task, help was enlisted from Labyrint Development AS, one of the leading design and innovation firms in Scandinavia.. Labyrint was challenged to think 'out of the box' and use today's technology to improve upon the old standard that had been mostly unchanged for nearly 25 years. Ergonomics, adjustability, comfort, manoeuvrability and safety were the key points that Labyrint and Access decided to take to the next level.
We would of course like to say that this is the finished Active walker. But as markets develop so must we, and our products. The Active walker, along with its accessories, is constantly being improved as we receive feedback from the everchanging marketplace.
Access was the first to introduce several new functions to the rollator and was thereby granted several International patents.
